Friendly reminder that Barack Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize for his work with ACORN and nominee Irena Sendler lost to Al Gore for a presentation on Global Warming. So what did Irena do?
Irena Sendler saved the lives of over 2,500 children during World War II by smuggling them out of the Warsaw Ghetto. Irena kept the names of every child and their locations in jars burried in her friend’s garden. She was arrested, tortured and sentenced to death. Her captors broke both of her legs and feet but she remained silent and refused to give the names of her coconspirators. A friend successfully bribed a German guard for her release and she continued to smuggle children although having to remain in hiding herself. After the war, she attempted to reunite every child with surviving parents.
“Every child saved with my help is the justification of my existence on this Earth, and not a title to glory” - Irena Sendler
“I’m the shit” - Barack Obama
“Manbearpig is in there and we all have to kill him while we all have the chance, I’m cereal!” - Al Gore
